What can I code when one of our OB patients in seen in labor and delivery at the hospital and our physician is consulted over the phone only regarding their care?

Can you bill 99211 when RN evaluates the patient and provides care but pt does not see the Physician?

Can you bill 99211 when RN evaluates the patient and provides care but pt does not see the Physician?

Not when the nurse is at the hospital and the provider is on the phone.
To use the 99211 for an RN encounter it must be in the physician office and it must be a follow up visit for the same reason the provider saw the patient in a previous encounter, the provider must have a plan of care in the chart indicating that the follow up visit would be scheduled. The provider must be within the office suite while the patient is there.
