A patient comes to our office to get travel vaccines (typhoid, yellow fever, etc). Our physician requires an office visit before the vaccines can be given. Past billers within this office have always filed this with V65.49 (other specific counseling). Most insurance companies do not pay. However, I read that if I filed with the dx code for the vaccine, it may be paid. I have tried it and it has been paid. But is this correct?
