Wiki Transcribing Handwritten Progress Notes

Hello,

Does anyone know if what is the requirement to transcribe physician's handwritten progress note to electronic medical records? Would it be acceptable for a MA to transcribe the handwritten progress notes to the EHR with the physician's electronic signature? Or would she need to be certified to do that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
