Hello,

I am new to OB coding. I have a group of physicians that are billing subsequent visits after the delivery. The mother is not having any complications as well. It is my understanding that these should be included in the global package of the delivery. My question is are they not supposed to bill anything or is there a "global" code similar to the 99024 that they should be submitting. Thank you!

Good morning,

The global period goes for 6 weeks after the delivery and yes you can bill 99024 for reporting purposes. This code allows the office to track how many visit the woman has had and to confirm that the visits are related to the child birth.

BINGO!And depending on your software, the system will tell you if it's during the global period. We have Allscripts and it tells me how many days post the services are.
