I have a surgery for a comminuted distal femur periarticular fracture that was not salvageable. A distal femoral replacement hinged knee, basically a tumor type implant. Would you bill this a a TKA or unlisted? The provider is stating that this was a very long and stressful surgery and he wants to make sure he is compensated for what he performed. I am thinking 27445 with modifier 22? however, I do not know if this classifies as a different then your typical hinged knee implant since so much bone was removed? Thank you
