Can anyone help me with the type of service code for Mohs micrographic surgery? Our practice management system vendor automatically assigns a TOS of 5 to our Mohs claims. I'm sure it should be a 2 but can't find anything in writing to support that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry that I can't help too much more than this, but our Mohs always go out with a TOS of 2. That is the Surgery TOS.

Surgical procedures seem to fall under that TOS, while the actual lab and pathology codes fall under the TOS of 5.

Find-A-Code has all of the CPT codes for each TOS listed, but that is all I can find for documentation.
