Wondering if anyone would be able to help or has recommendation for this scenario.
I was off on a medical leave for 6 mos and when I returned come to find out none of the billing was done have been catching up but getting denials for those 90 days Timely filing issues. Is there some type of forgiveness letter or suggestions anyone might have one how to appeal these denials some are the FHP/ICP or MMAI products others are Aetna Cigna etc.
Thanks
Barb

I don't think there is anyway to appeal timely filing when in fact it was untimely. just because the person that does the billng is out on medical leave is no excuse to not get the billing done.. you know the whole the show must go on thing.

If the bills were in fact not submitted timely, then there's no point in trying to appeal because they'll just respond back that the denial was correct - appeal representatives for the large payers generally don't have the authority to waive the requirements of the contracts. I would suggest that it might be worth a try to contact your payers' network representatives and see if they can do anything for you. If you have a good relationship with them and are a valued provider in their network, they might be willing to help you out.

Worth a try

HI,

We had the same issue occur and with the help of a claims resolution specialist from our payer, we were able to get most of the claims in for processing and payment. Worth a try
