Wiki Therapy procedures and CCI

While billing occupational therapy procedures, I occasionally come across CCI edits on certain procedures billed together. Per CodeCorrect, a modifier is allowed to one or more of these procedures to differentiate between the codes. What modifier should I use to differentiate? I've been using 59, but feel that I'm billing this too much. Can anyone assist me on this??

For example, when billing 97760, 97110 together, I check CodeCorrect, and get the following message:

CCI Issues Code 97110 is a component of code 97760 but a modifier is allowed on 97110 Qualified By Standards of medical / surgical practice. So what modifier????

Have you tried adding mod 59 to it?

Yes, I always add 59 modifier, but keep being told not use this modifier unless its the last resort, so I was just curious if anyone knew of another modifier that could be used. Thanks for your help.

do you always apply the modifier? Because you should not be unbundling these you can support a separate body area or completely separate session.
