The patient had a THA. The THA got infected so prosthesis were removed and temporary prosthesis and antibiotic beads were placed. Infection has since cleared up and temporary prosthesis and antibiotic beads are removed and a THA is done again. How do I code this? Is it a revision 27134 and 11982 or a conversion from previous hip surgery to a THA 27132? Any help would be appreciated.
 
If the prosthesis has been removed for infection, then the revision code is not correct, as compensation has already been given for the removal. A conversion code is the appropriate code to use.
