Our doctor has completed the arthroscopic portion of the SLAP repair surgery in which he released the bicep long tendon. What would be the best CPT code for the following:
A 3 cm axillary incision was made along the inferior border of the pectoralis major tendon. We dissected through the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The fascial plane between the inferior border of the pec major tendon and the musculature of the short head of the biceps was developed. The long head of the biceps was retrieved into the wound. The was significant intrasubstance erythema and tenosynovial hypertrophy and inflammation. A complete tenosynovectomy was performed removing all diseased tenosynovial tissue. The tendon was then passed through the inferior border of the pectoralis major tendon and ties onto itself in a tensionless fashion using #1 Vicryl suture with multiple figure-of-eight throws to finalize out tenodesis fixation.
23430 is being billed for the bicep tendon repair. I do not think the tenosynovectormy would be included with the repair. Would by chance be an unlisted code?
Thanks for you help!
