Due to the coronavirus, my boss is implementing teletherapy beginning tomorrow. The therapists will be meeting with clients via real time audio video communications on an approved HIPAA compliant platform. The clients will most likely be at home. Is this ok to bill? I know this is not an approved originating site per CMS, but I also know this is not new. Tallktherapy has been around for some time. How are others billing for this? Also, as far as coding, would we bill the CPT like 90837, with the place of service 02 for telehealth?

You will need to check with the payer regarding the originating site. Medicare is very specific that patient home is not acceptable as an originating site.
