Can somebody please tell me how I should be coding visits for Telepsychiatry where a Physician is seeing a patient for Medication Management? My gut tells me to go with an E/M instead of 90832, but the CPT book says that in order to use an E/M, it must be a face-to-face visit ... is Telehealth considered face-to-face? Any help and input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Your gut is correct. It you look in your CPT book, there is a symbol (star) next to the E/M codes 99201-99215. This symbol indicates these codes may be used to report telemedicine when appended by modifier 95. You can also reference Appendix P in your book for the codes that can be used.

Some payers may require the use of modifier GT, so it is always important to always check with the individual payer.

Some may also require you to pair the modifier GT with a place of service code 02.
