Our physician wants to start and bill for the telephone calls to patients. I am looking at the 99446 - 49 codes. Is anyone getting paid for these from any insurances including Medicare?
99446-99449 are calls from one physician to another physician regarding a patient. For patient calls you need 99441-99443, but read the info on the code book there are rules that go with these codes such as the patient must be the one to initiate the phone call. For the provider to call the patient say for follow up to a visit or any non global follow up would be the 99358 prolonged non face to face, but you must have a minimum of 30 minutes documented.
