Has anyone started billing for the telemedicine codes in 2019? If so, are you having any reimbursement issues and what is your protocol for getting patient consent?

Medicare pays for telemedicine services. Most commercial payers also pay, and you should note that many states have regulations that require all payers to pay for telemedicine. As long as you have followed all the rules and billed correctly you should not have any issues. As far as patient consent, I would assume that when the patient presents to the clinic or facility that is the originating site for the telemedicine service this would be implied consent, as in what else did they think they were going to get? The patient cannot be in the home or place of business for telemedicine.
