Does anyone know if it is required for Medicare/Medicaid to have a qualified presenter/observer in the room with the beneficiary the entire time during a telemedicine outpatient office visit? I was told that yes someone must be in the room with the beneficiary and found in the CMS IOM Chapter 12 under Telemedicine that a qualified presenter is not required unless determined medically necessary by the distant site provider.
Does anyone have experience with this that you can share?
TIA.
