This new option for the patient to receive care is quite confusing for coding/billing.
I have a speech therapy office that wants to provide this service. Besides the legal issue of can they, I am trying to figure out how I bill that.
Here is what I have found out so far:
1. Each insurance has their own guidelines for coverage on these services.
2. Each insurance policy needs to be checked for coverage of that group or individual for this service.
3. The service provided may or may not be billable as a telemedicine billable code.
4. A modifier needs to be appended (95) to tell the insurance that this is a telemedicine service.
There's a few more idiosyncrasies but what I want to know is who has billed these? Have you learned different ways to bill them and maybe have some tips for me?
Does anyone know about licensing requirements and/or restrictions? What POS do you use - the office where the services are being submitted from or home where the patient is at?
If anyone can offer any assistance in this I would be sooooo greatful?
