I have a provider who wants to perform a telehealth visit on a patient visiting family in state. The patient technically lives out of state. Can we bill for this?
Telehealth across state lines is a sticky situation as each state determines the specific licensing requirement. In your situation, it sounds like this is NOT across state lines. The provider and the patient are currently located in the same state. As long as the provider has a medical license for that state, it should not be an issue. Telehealth documentation should include the location of the patient and provider.
