My recommendation is to check with your local BCBS. My local BCBS accepts both the telemedicine and lab codes on the same invoice because they want us to bill our normal POS for telemedicine. For example, we are an Urgent Care so we bill POS 20 for both the visit and the lab. If you are primary care, you might do the same (meaning bill your normal POS 11). However, if you are billing POS 02 for the telemedicine, you can also split off the invoice and bill POS 11 with only the strep test.We are a Pediatric practice and in an effort to control foot traffic in the office our providers are doing televisits for sick patients but sometimes they tell them to come in and get a strep test or Covid test how do we bill for that? We tried billing the televisit and the strep but since the POS doesn't match and it was all done the same day BCBS denied the claim because the POS don't match. Any ideas? Should we not do the strep same day?
