Can you bill for services when a tech performs a diagnostic ( OCT, pachymetry ) and the provider is not in the office but does review them and sign off. My question is this allowed or does the provider have to be in the office same day.

The CMS supervision requirement varies from procedure to procedure. If you look up a code in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, there's a column for 'physician supervision of diagnostic procedures' which has an indicator that will tell you if that procedure requires general, direct or personal supervision. 'General' supervision does not require the presence of the physician, but the other levels always do.
