I code for wound and some of the coders assign the dx code T81.89xx for (Other complication of procedures not elsewhere classified) as a secondary with the additional dx code as primary. I assign this dx code as primary and then the additional dx code per ICD 10 description. I can not seem to find any guidance that it should be exclusive primary or can it be either? Good use some thoughts on this.
