Does anybody know if there is a code for suture removal when the sutures were put in by a different doctor? There was no anesthesia involved and the only suture removal codes I can find is when the patient is under anesthesia (other than local). I'm wondering if it is automatically bundled into the post-operative package and there is no code? Just curious to see what others are doing in this situation! Thanks for the help!!

Normally, this is included in the E/M; however, S0630 does exist.

S0630=Removal of sutures by a physician other than the physician who originally closed the wound.

Many carriers do not pay for this so check their policy...

Not global

The global period applies ONLY to the physician who sutured the wound (and to his/her partners or allied health professionals in the same specialty/same practice).

You can code the documented E/M level for your services.

Hope that helps.
