We have a patient that we did a remove tissue expander with placement of breast implant CPT 11970. This is the breast cancer site.
On the opposite breast the patient had a huge deformity secondary to a biopsy that came back benign. The doctor did a right breast implant reconstruction for correction of biopsy defect and symmetry with a breast implant placement.
I am debating using 19325 Mammaplasty augmentation with prosthetic implant or 19342 delayed insertion of breast prosthesis following mastopexy, mastecotmy, or in reconstruction.
My doc thinks that since there was a biopsy taken checking for cancer and it resulted in the defect that it falls in the reconstruction category. Me on the other hand am a little squirrly because there is no cancer dx on this side?
Any input would be helpful. The insurance is medicare.....
