Our office has been approached to begin billing for a Craniofacial surgeon. I have never billed for this type of specialty before. I was curious if someone would give me an idea of any coding books that I should look into purchasing. He used to work as an ENT also and does a lot of plastic surgery. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Books

I used to work for oral surgeons and there were a couple of books we used. One was by Ingenix, a coding companion book for OMS/Plastics/Dermatology. The other was Coding Illustrated, The Face: Skeletal Structures and Dentition by Medicode. I was working in OMS from 2000-2008 and I don't know if these books are still being printed. But those books were lifesavers when we had serious trauma or plastics repairs. They listed the codes, an easy to understand summary, crosswalk codes, etc. Hope that helps.
