If the integumentary system consists of the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissues then why would someone code a SubQ lipoma from the muscle/skeletal section? I am confused. Thanks! :confused:
 
Take a look at one of the excision codes in the musc/skel section. You'll see they use the term subcutaneous. If the lipoma is deep below the top two dermal layers and in the sub-q tissue, that is more than likely the section you want.

Don't be thrown off by titles of sections....in the "skin" section there are codes for debriding down into "bone".
