I have seen some previous discussion on strapping. I am told as per this documentation that along with the E&M cpt to be billed it requires a strapping cpt just because the assessment states ace bandage. My concern is it is quite ambiguous since it not quite pronounce that ace bandage was 'applied', 'wrapped' or 'patient should use ace wrap.
Please give me your best suggestions with any guidelines that you may have to support coding for strapping.
14M brought in by father and sister (21 yr old) for right ankle pain after twisting it while playing basketball 2 days ago
Able to ambulate Denies any other trauma, numbness, foot pain.
Assessment/Plan
Ankle sprain
Neurovascularly intact
X-rays interpreted as negative for acute fracture by radiologist
RICE therapy
Ace wrap
