Hi, all,
I need to visit this site every day! Interesting questions being posted. . .
I have just been told that the Bscans (CPT 76512) performed on the machine used by our retina doc are not being stored.
The doctor reads the scan while he is doing it and records the findings in his note. From that point, the Bscan is no longer retrievable. No printouts are possible and the image is not stored anywhere.
My gut instinct is that this is problem from a billing perspective (where is our proof the test was done?) and from a liability/patient care perspective.
What are your thoughts, and do you have written guidelines to point me to?
Thanks in advance!! I am going to post this on the Compliance list, also.
