Which dx would be used for a visit to review negative STD/HIV test results? The PA put 099.9 (venereal disease NOS) but I believe that would indicate to the insurance that the pt DOES have an STD. Thanks for your help!
you are correct, the 099.9 code indicates the patient has a disease. this will need to be a V code of some variety. If the result is negative why is there a visit? is it to counsel the patient on high risk behaviors then use the V69.- code. the only choice available to you is a V code.
