Wiki Status Indicator Question

Our hospital posed a question on why inpatient procedures are being performed on an outpatient status. I clearly said that I was sure with some procedures that our doctors did not know anything about status indicators and that I need to educate them.

My question is this: Professional billing only-should we BE doing this or is it just a revenue detail and we all are losing out.

This is not the same as outpatient stautus indicators for APC. CMS has a list of procedures that are approved for inpatient basis only. Like the list that are non ASC approved. You should be able to get this list from your regional Medicare carrier.
