Hello, fellow billers.
I have a quick question. I work for an FQHC, and most of our young patients are covered under Medicaid.
VFC vaccines are billed with modifier SL to describe that this vaccine is provided free of charge by the state.
Usually, other managed Medi-Cal programs do either pay for the admin fee or pay a certain amount for
the vaccine, not an administration fee.
However, I received this EOB saying I need to resubmit with a valid modifier for the vaccine,
and all part of the service was denied.
I need your insight on what to use instead of SL! Thank you in advance!
