I work for a payor company. I have noticed claims from providers are billing 77301-Intensity modulated radiotherapy plan & 77338 these codes pend to our IMRT policy. But the reords indicate services are for Stereotactic Radiosurgery or Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy. I was wondering if the coding is an error or is a standard billing practice. Any thoughts/input on this would be appreciated

Hello, correct coding is essential.

Since you are employed by a payor company, there should be someone in your company who can reach out to providers who are billing incorrectly. If the provider is contracting with your payor company, there should be a contact person on file for communicating and resolving such issues. A provider relations or compliance person may be able to help.

Please check with your management so that you can follow the proper channels to report this issue.
