Wiki Spontaneous Abortion?

The patient went to the referring physician for a screening for viability at 7 weeks and 4 days.

The dx says
Products of Conception
Immature and Degenerating Placental Villi

Is this a spontaneous abortion or should I code it as the screening?

My first course of action would be to ask for clarification from the diagnosing physician. Placental villi do degrade and are "replaced" by chorionic villi in the 3rd month of pregnancy (right around your patient's GA) and are by definition products of conception. However, the fact that the villi are also immature is a bit offsetting. So! It really comes down to physician accessing the viability of the pregnancy in the charting.
