Does anybody know what is considered age appropiate in order for social history to be counted?

EXAMPLE: 9 month of female brough in by mom with complain of Fever.

SOCIAL HISTORY: She lives with both parents or both parents present

Since child is 9 months, is that acceptable documentation for social history to be counted (age appropiate )?

Yes

Yes, for children an age appropriate social history usually includes living conditions (with parents, pets in home), schooling ("in 3rd grade"), care-giver (goes to day care). It can also include where there are smokers in the home.

For our neonates still in the NICU I frequently see "Patient has yet to go home from hospital" as the social history.

I wish they would figure out a way to make the ROS "age appropriate" as well. (Can you imagine asking the mother of a newborn ... "any psychiatric problems?")

Hope that helps.
