Hello fellow coders. I work for a neurosurgical/pain management practice. We are updating our EMR to a new version that will allow us to meet meaningful use 2 guidelines. Those guidelines include using SNOMED codes. Now I have done some research and I understand why they are going this route for clinical documentation to have commonality amoung the healthcare providers (and for many other reasons statistics, research etc.)
So as the billing office manager, I have been asked to find the SNOMED code equivelant of the ICD9 codes. But other than just downloading the entire snomed library, I haven't seen any training or education on how to do so. It seems to me that ICD 10 coding correlates better with the snomed concepts. But since this was delayed again I am at a loss ??? Is anyone else struggling with this
