I am new to hand surgery and desperately need help.
Does anyone know what I do when the surgeon has performed multiple CPT procedures and there are multiple ICD-9's. For example a skin graft on a fasciotomy site of the forearm, and a carpal tunnel release for compartment syndrome?
There are three ICD-9 codes: carpal tunnel syndrome, open wound of forearm and compartment syndrome of the arm. Do you have to bill the correct CPT with ICD-9 codes? i.e. if i list the open wound ICD-9 with the carpal tunnel release will my claim get rejected?
Thank you in advance. Mars
