Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
I am searching the internet, AAPC, CPT and dermatology on an answer to my question and where I can find my answer.
I have laceration that was repaired using the patient's hair as the primary closure, like a steri-strip, on top of the braid the provider applies dermabond.
Now it has been told to me a few years ago that if the provider closed the laceration with the dermabond then the braid, that the laceration repair 12001-12004 could be used........ but if the laceration was closed using the hair as the primary and then dermabond used to keep the hair secure, that this is not codeable and would be only coded as a level of service.
So my question is this: Is hair appositioning (braiding, tying) included in Level of Service or would this be a laceration repair?
Thank you for all your help.
Amber
