The surgeon performed an arthroscopic shoulder anterior labral repair on the anterior inferior labrum. There was no lesion or tear of the superior labrum. The code I came up with is 29806 - capsulorrhaphy. But in doing research, was told that 29807 was the code most physicians use for all labrum repairs. I don't like it because it states SLAP repair. Any information would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

true slap tears occur between 10:00 oclock and 1:00 oclock are not typically the cause of shoulder instability. your note sounds more like a capsulorrhaphy which is repair of the capsule that the labrum attaches to outside of the 10:00 oclock - 1:00 oclock position.

i would bill it 29806

keep in mind, you can bill and unbundle 29807 and 29806 if your documentation supports tha the two different areas treated and your physician states two different diagnoses for each code. (ie...29807= labral tear and 29806 = instability)
