I have 3 Urgent Care Clinics in my organization. Here is the scenario: A patient is seen at one UC location and care is started/documented and then based on clinical judgement is asked to go to another UC location (where documentation is continued) (patient is driving themselves to the 2nd location) and a CT scan is performed (the reason for going to another UC location). I have 3 questions:
1. Should this be billed as a Shared Visit? (It may be 2 physicians seeing the patient and not necessarily a physician and a NPP)
2. If it is shared visit - is the place of service the first location or the last location?
3. Does the documenation need to state when the visit location changed (since it doesn't do that in the EHR - its listed only as the first UC)?
