when attaching the prim EOB to the claim to go to secondary is it necessary to black out other patients on the prim EOB? I always had but am being told not necessary

Thanks

It would be a HIPAA breach if you sent other patient's information to the 2ndary insurance company. You should absolutely redact the other patient's names, ID#s, and any other PHI.

Secondaries Payer other names on EOB

Hi
Yes black out other patient names on EOB but let see your patient name.

Hope this helps

my suggestion is to contact your computer software department and ask them if there is a way to print eob for just one person at a time. If that doesn't work what about your clearing house. i have asked for the above and now have eobs from my computer and clearing house to print just the eob i need.

i hope this helps.
