Wiki Screening only

Your post is incredibly vague and slim on details. What are you screening for exactly? Also, 99250 is not currently a valid CPT code, do you have a typo in here by chance. Please provide additional information so that the community can assist you with your question(s).

Hello Everyone,

How do we code if it is screening only? Should we use base rate E/M code(99499) in conjuction with screening only code(DRE) 99250.
Hi there, the DRE is coded with G0102 without an extra E/M code.

There is no patient copay when the screening meets the carrier's requirements. In the event there is a separate issue that is not related to the preventive service it would be appropriate to an code an E/M visit. However, there will be a co-pay for the E/M visit so the provider should make sure the patient understands that before they perform the E/M service. Patients often think everything that happens during the visit for a preventive visit is covered under the preventive benefit and they get upset when they have to pay for the separate E/M visit.

Finally, 99499 is the unlisted E/M code. It is not a 'base rate' code.
