Patient comes in for screening colonoscopy, no diagnosis is found. Do I code the pre-op code V72.81 then the V76.51?

Is this for an office exam? Was there a cardio exam done?
In my office if this was just an office visit we bill the V76.51 only. If you are billing medicare make sure that an abn form was signed or you cannot bill the patient. Medicare does not pay for screening office visits. Some commercial payers also dont pay for the screening office visits.

There is no such thing as a pre op for a colonoscopy, if the patient comes in for the screening and screening is performed then you use the V76.51. If the patient is comming to you for preventive then use the V70.0.
