Typically when our center sees a patient for a screening colon and they have a polyp, we bill with the polyp as our primary code and screening as the secondary. I have a patient who was scoped at the hospital and they are telling me that they cannot bill with the primary dx of polyp because it started as a screening. Can anyone help me to clear this up????

If the patient is scheduled as a screening you bill the screening code as primary, any findings are secondary. V76.51 is primary and 211.3 is secondary
