How can I correctly code for an 99233, inpatient hospital visit and a 36556, a central line procedure which has a one day global period. If I use a 24 modifier on the 99233 with a different dx on the 36556, will that be correct?

I have done that, but I get denials as included in the global period. So I was trying to find out if there is another way to code it to get payment on the 99233

When I looked up 36556 it actually has 0 global days, so you should not need a modifier. Sounds like a payer issue they may be using a different unbundling edit.

Was there an earlier procedure?

Was there any other procedure performed on an earlier date, for which the global period has not run out?
