I had a question asked yesterday. I don't think it can be done but I am going to throw it out there because I have never had the situation come up.
I have several hospitalists slowly transitioning to the hospitals staff and no longer will be employees of our medical group. While this is happening the floor coverage will be about 70% our group and 30% theirs until we only have 1 by the end.
The question that was asked was if a physician from THEIR group admits and then a physician from OUR group discharges same day, can we bill for our discharge services separately? We are the same specialty but not the same group any longer.
