The Da Vinci robot does not warrant a 22 modifier. It is a tool, like a laparoscope is a tool for performing a surgical procedure. When billing for the surgeon you just bill the code for the surgical procedure that was done. Any additional reimbursement for use of the Da Vinci robot is for the hospital because they are the ones who have to buy the machine.
