I bill for an Orthopaedic Oncologist and he uses a PA and an RFNA, I know you can't bill for both BUT how do you bill for an RFNA? PA's use 82 modifier but what would be the modifier for the RFNA? Also if we can bill for both please let me know, any help is appreciated

PA's utilize the modifier's AS appended to a surgery. Physicians utilize the numerical modifiers 80-82. Some payer's have specific rules to use both for a PA.

RNFA have specific rules per payor and are more complex than the forum will allow. So contact the payor before billing a claim. I would have to see documentation to justify billing for both and their needs to be some quality detailed information as to why two assists were needed. I would have to do a double check per payor to determine where two assists would be allowed. As a last note, RNFA's would also use the AS modifier.
