when revising an acetabular cup liner of a total hip for recurrent hip dislocation, it is routine to exchange the femoral head in order to get to the liner. Do you code this as a revision of 1 or 2 components (acetabular & femoral)?

when revising an acetabular cup liner of a total hip for recurrent hip dislocation, it is routine to exchange the femoral head in order to get to the liner. Do you code this as a revision of 1 or 2 components (acetabular & femoral)?

If the femoral head + acetabulm liner are done you could capture the 27134 revision. You have the option of using the 52 modifier but it depends on your documentation. But my docs usually avoid the 52 modifier as it can significantly reduce your reimbursement.
