Needing some advice on the following procedure.
Findings:
Contrast injection into the jejunostomy tube revealed a dilated segment between the balloon and skin, but that contrast proceeded rapidly and normally through the roux-limb. The tube was switched to a non-balloon device - 14Fr 1.2cm.
Procedure:
Patient had esophageal atresia at birth and has both G tube and J tubes. The (Roux limb) J-tube leaks considerably. The patient is taken to the operating room on an elective basis for contrast study with probably exchange of the tube and possible revision of the jejunostomy. The patient was placed in the supine position. Adequate anesthesia was initiated. Contrast was instilled through the jejunostomy tube with the findings as listed above. As it was felt that the balloon was somewhat obstructive, the tube was changed out to a non-balloon device which would not take up as much of the lumen and had holes to allow liquids to flow better. Contrast through this revealed good flow. The procedure was well tolerated and there were no apparent complications.
