why dont you just charge for casting materials?

Use CPT 29799 and type "CAST REPAIR NEC" in the narrative/dunning line (so it prints in the shaded area of the charge line in box 24) and send the dictation with the claim (or transmit the claim electronically as long as you have that description typed in and it will go with your claim. The insurance company will request the dictation if they absolutely need it). Insurance companies will require the "CAST REPAIR NEC" description since 29799 is an unlisted procedure code. We have received reimbursements from Aetna, Anthem Federal, Anthem HealthKeepers Plus and NCAS for sure.
