I recently completed the AAPC course, and passed my CPC exam. I am now working through Practicode.

I also have 7 years of experience working in the medical billing field (for a large group of Emergency Department doctors), which also included a little bit of coding. Over those 7 years I worked in many positions and have a thorough understanding of the process from beginning to end. However, that 7 years of experience was 25 years ago before my youngest daughter was born.

My question is, would that experience count towards having the A removed from my CPC certification, along with completing the course through AAPC?

Thanks!

I think the experience only counts if it is within the last 2 years.....I took a remote course online, 80 hours of coursework will remove 1 year from the cpc-a. the 2 years required. they have a section on it and some links to schools that offer it

The experience most likely wouldn't apply, unless that employer was able to attest to recent experience. You can purchase the AAPC course with Practicode included for the best deal.
