Access was initially obtained through the right groin and failed to be established with a micropuncture. On removal of the micropuncture kit, it was noted that the floppy tip of the guidewire was sheared off in the subqu tissue. In order to remove the foreign body an oblique incision was made in the subcu and a blunt dissection was carried down to the subq tissue. Once the proximal tip of the guidewire was identified, it was easily grasped with a hemostat and removed without complication.
